A Teenage girl's bathtime

You gotta love teenage girls!

Below is a fun poem about girls-- please don't miss the one below it for BOYS.
You gotta love boys too. I know I had fun seeing the vast differences in my kids as they were growing up.  These two poems say it all. Well the boy's bathtime poem doesn't say a lot, but it actually does say a lot.  :)

Ode to a teenage girl's bathtime

I've got to get into the shower
My ride will be here in one hour!

I'll use all the hot water and not waste a minute-
I'll keep everyone waiting, won't let anyone in it!

This bathroom' off limits, it's mine for an hour.
Can't you guys wait for me while I shower?

My hair takes forever to dry, don't you see?
My makeup must be applied perfectly.

Do you think these jeans make me look fat?
I just can't get ready any faster than that!!

Ode to a boy's bathtime

I'm in and i'm out,
What's all the fuss about?

...... And it really was just like that, wasn't it Mario and Billy and Jennie??
Love you!  Mom

We had this sign on our bathroom wall when the kids were growing up:

Mom's Bath Time-- finally!

When my 3 kids were young, with our hectic school and sports schedules, it was sometimes difficult to find a quiet moment to myself to just relax and unwind.  I would yearn for a few quiet moments to myself.  Just a quiet luxurious bubble bath, maybe a glass of wine and soft music and even candles!

So now that my 3 are grown, 24, 26 and 28, they are extremely independent, and I find that I now have much more available "me" time.  Isn't it funny that now I am yearning for those hectic sports schedule days and following my kiddoes around?  I do miss those days at the park and afterwards having lunch/dinner together and hashing out the days events.

Here's a poem I wrote when they were little, and I yearned for a few quiet moments to myself:

Ode to Mom’s Bath Time
Oh, a bath –
Sweet, luxurious bath.
The pleasure is all mine.

Lock the door, turn down the lights,
Enjoy some quiet time.

Lay your head back, prop your feet up,
and maybe a sip of wine.

But just when you do, inevitably it’s true—
The whole house is looking for you!!

Mom, he hit me!  Mom, can you take us to the movies?  Where's Mom?
