So now that my 3 are grown, 24, 26 and 28, they are extremely independent, and I find that I now have much more available "me" time. Isn't it funny that now I am yearning for those hectic sports schedule days and following my kiddoes around? I do miss those days at the park and afterwards having lunch/dinner together and hashing out the days events.
Here's a poem I wrote when they were little, and I yearned for a few quiet moments to myself:
Ode to Mom’s Bath Time
Oh, a bath –
Sweet, luxurious bath.
The pleasure is all mine.
Sweet, luxurious bath.
The pleasure is all mine.
Lock the door, turn down the lights,
Enjoy some quiet time.
Enjoy some quiet time.
Lay your head back, prop your feet up,
and maybe a sip of wine.
and maybe a sip of wine.
But just when you do, inevitably it’s true—
The whole house is looking for you!!
The whole house is looking for you!!
Mom, he hit me! Mom, can you take us to the movies? Where's Mom? |
As soon as you prop your feet up, "mom what are you doing? Mom can you hurry up I need a ride over to Katie's house. Mom can you hear me?" Haha
